Today, we are especially excited to share with our community our 2025 Sustainability Report (the 4th edition of this transparency initiative), in which we highlight tangible progress in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) areas aligned with the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
International certifications that attest to our management practices
To ensure that every action is measurable and rigorous, we back our practices with internationally recognized certifications throughout the entire chain:
■ Ecostars ESG AI: A global certification program implemented in all our hotels that evaluates energy efficiency, resource management, and environmental impact through data analytics.
■ Biosphere Sustainable: Validation of the global implementation of the SDGs in the day-to-day operations of our properties.
■ Ecofoodies – Sustainable Food Certification: A pioneering certification that attests to our commitment to a responsible, healthy, and animal-welfare-conscious culinary offering.
Key Achievements and Milestones for 2025 Across Our Four Strategic Pillars
1. Sustainable Sourcing
Together with Ecofoodies, we have transformed our culinary offerings:
+20% increase in the use of locally sourced and “Kilometer 0” products.
+10% in vegan/vegetarian options and organic products.
Complete elimination of single-use plastic in food service and the phasing out of eggs from caged hens and meat from factory farms.
2. Environment
We reduced total emissions to 10.6 K tCO₂eq (compared to 12.7 K in 2023).
We reached 305.1 K kWh of in-house photovoltaic production in 2025 (as at abba Rambla and abba Huesca), adding new projects for 2026 such as the 44 modules at abba Apartments Playa de Gros (San Sebastián).
We reduced total water consumption by a cumulative 5.8% compared to 2023, reaching 158.1 thousand m³.
3. Waste Management
In partnership with Ecoembes and local governments, we maintain a low waste rate of 0.311 kg per stay.
Replacing single-use items with high-quality refillable bulk dispensers and prioritizing recycled cellulose and textiles.
4. People | Society
91.66% of our workforce (572 professionals) has a permanent contract.
53.6% of our customers are domestic, reducing the environmental impact of travel.
Active partnerships with the Josep Carreras Foundation Against Leukemia (abba Xalet Suites), the “Solidarity Room” campaign with Caritas (abba Madrid), the blanket drive with the Covadonga Shelter (abba Playa Gijón) and the “Torró Solidari ” fundraiser for the Sant Joan de Déu Hospital (abba Garden). In addition, we are participating in the #PorElClima Hospitality Program.
Looking to the Future with Determination
The 2025 Sustainability Report reaffirms that comfort, personalized service —”A smile comes first”— and hospitality excellence are fully compatible with protecting the planet and fostering the social development of the communities where we operate.
We would like to thank our more than 600 employees, as well as our suppliers, partners, and the more than 727,000 guests who chose us this year for being an active part of #sustainability.
